Republican leaders in the House and Senate say they will unveil a bill Monday to strip power from the state Board of Education.

House Speaker Kris Steele and Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman said Friday the bill would transfer authority to run the Department of Education from the board to the state schools superintendent.

Good, let the elected person run it, not the appointed ones.

Ditto, djp.  Add to that the "partisan" appointed ones. 

Respected conservative bloggers are calling for at least two board members to resign.  I concur.

To his credit, former governor Brad Henry says Ms Barresi does have the right to appoint her staff.

I predict this bill will pass quickly in the House and Senate and be signed into law by Governor Fallin by the end of the week.
